Michael for the Millennium

An excellent book, similar to it's predecessors, Messages from Michael, More Messages from Michael, and Michael's People. The layout of the book is someone different in that little asides and joking comments have now been added (in parenthesis) in the midst of many of Michael's dialogues. The information is still top-notch, however, the comments are unnecessary and distracting. That is the only 'peeve' I have with regards to this book. This is the first Michael book that Ms. Yarbro has published since Michael's People, back in the early 80's. The perspective is a little more fresh and current and easier to apply to today's ever-changing world. An excellent book, even without the benefit of having read any of the prior Michael material (although, it makes for MUCH easier reading and understanding if you have prior knowledge)

A Good Addition to the Michael Material

This is the second book I've read on the "Michael material" (the first being Messages from Michael), and I have to say that it provides much food for thought.

I found that, because of where this book starts, it's important to read at least the first "Michael" book before this one - as the first one provides an in depth look at certain ideas that need to be grasped before this material will make much sense.

"Michael for the Millennium" explores many different topics including: the various possibilities relatd to the future of our planet, reincarnation, life & death, relationships, the power of personal & global choice, and much, much more.

Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the "Michael" materials - it has much to offer. An open mind is a must...

A must for Michael fans, other's should read the first books in the series to get a feel for the format, and the complexity of our lives. It's not for the entrenched mind. An interesting, food for thought, exploration, into the how's and why's of everyday life among the savages. Us! Michael helps make sense of an insane world if you can take the time to ponder on the subject, go for it. Caution: All channeled material is subject to minor errors but can be easily corrected by cross reference, it's worth a few sour notes to have the wisdom of Michael.

Don Richard Riso, M.A. is the foremost writer and developer of the Enneagram in the world today. The most-published and best-selling author in the field, he is an internatioinally recognized authority on the subject. He is the president of Enneagram Personality Types, Inc., and founder of The Enneagram Institute. good starting point to figure out what type you are

The enneagram is a personality typing system; individuals fall into one of nine personality types (reformer, helper, motivator, artist, thinker, loyalist, generalist, leader or peacemaker). Individuals can predict & analyze their thoughts & behavior based on their personality type. When I first learned about enneagram, I thought it was some kind of hocus-pocus new-agey alternative fluff, but the typing system has a strong historical grounding and it makes so much sense.
This book is helpful if you're new to the concept of enneagram, or if you're familiar with the enneagram but want to discovery or confirm your type. I would not recommend it if you know your enneagram personality type already and are interested in learning about the type . The book provides a simple 144-question survey somewhat remniscent of those interest tests we all took in high school (would you prefer to play tennis or keep score in a tennis match? conduct research in a lab or sell books?). Each question gives two choices; you must choose one -- sometimes it is tough, but the forced choice leads to an answer.
The book is most useful as a typing and diagnostic tool. The descriptions of the nine different personality types are short, barely enough to scratch the surface. Once you know your type, you'll probably want to consult one of Riso's other works to learn more about what the type means.

Valuable insight.

I must say that I disagree with the earlier negative review. I was turned on to the Enneagram and Mr. Riso's work by a friend and have been a supporter ever since. This is not about a cult religion or an alternative belief system. It is about seeing the whole picture of yourself, positives and negatives. The Enneagram test enabled me to see the things about myself that I didn't want to see and the things that friends and family may not want to tell you personally. An invaluable tool for self discovery. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that the personality type descriptions tend to be a little short. (A problem remedied by Mr. Riso's book "Personality Types"). For those looking for a quicker read, I highly recommend this book. If a more insightful description of your personality type is what you are looking for, try Mr. Riso's book "Personality Types".

Very helpful at determining personality type

This test will either tell you what your type is, or help you narrow it down to a choice of two. You can also take the test answering as you think an acquaintance would answer, giving a strong clue to that person's type. I only came across one case where the test wasn't helpful, where an individual scored evenly for almost every type. In my case, a different enneagram test pointed to an incorrect type, but this test pointed correctly at my type. And that's the purpose of the book.

About the Author
Rick Billstein is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Montana. He has worked in mathematics teacher education at this university for over 40 years and his current research is in the areas of curriculum development and mathematics teacher education. He teaches courses for future teachers in the Mathematics Department. He served as the site director for the Show-Me Project, an NSF-funded project supporting the dissemination and implementation of standards-based middle grades mathematics curricula. He worked on the NSF grant Tinker Plots to develop new data analysis software and he serves on the Advisory Boards for several other national projects. From 1992-1997, he directed the NSF-funded Six Through Eight Mathematics (STEM) middle school mathematics curriculum project and is now directing the Middle Grades MATH Thematics Phase II Project. Dr. Billstein has published articles in over 20 different journals, and has co-authored over 40 books, including ten editions of A Problem Solving Approach to Mathematics for Elementary Teachers. He typically does about 25 regional and national presentations per year and has worked in mathematics education at the international level. He presently serves on the Editorial Board of NCTM’s Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School. Dr. Billstein was recently awarded the George M. Dennison Presidential Faculty Award for Distinguished Accomplishment at the University of Montana.
 
Shlomo Libeskind is a professor in the mathematics department at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon, and has been responsible there for the mathematics teaching major since 1986. In addition to teaching and advising pre-service and in-service teachers, Dr. Libeskind has extensive writing experience (books, articles, and workshop materials) as well as in directing mathematics education projects. In teaching and in writing, Dr. Libeskind uses a heuristic approach to problem solving and proof; in this approach the reasonableness of each step in a solution or proof is emphasized along with a discussion on why one direction might be more promising than another. As part of his focus on the improvement of the teaching of mathematics, Dr. Libeskind is also involved at many levels locally, nationally, and worldwide in the evaluation of mathematics teacher preparation programs. In his home state, he is actively involved in schools and councils, as well as in reviewing materials for the state standards for college admission. Most recently (spring 2008) he visited teacher colleges in Israel as a Fulbright Fellow. During this visit he conducted observations and critiques of the preparation of mathematics teachers at several colleges in Northern Israel. Dr. Libeskind received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Mathematics at the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology) and his PhD in Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
 
Johnny W. Lott began his teaching career in the public schools of DeKalb County, Georgia, outside Atlanta. There he taught mathematics in grades 8-12. He also taught one year at the Westminster Schools, grades 9-12, and one year in the Pelican, Alaska, school, grades 6-12. Johnny is the co-author of several books and has written numerous articles and other essays in the "Arithmetic Teacher", "Teaching Children Mathematics", "The Mathematics Teacher", "School Science and Mathematics", "Student Math Notes", and "Mathematics Education Dialogues". He was the Project Manager for the "Figure This!" publications and website developed by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and was project co-director of the State Systemic Initiative for Montana Mathematics and Science (SIMMS) Project. He has served on many NCTM committees, has been a member of its Board of Directors, and was its president from April 2002-April 2004. Dr. Lott is Professor Emeritus from the Department of Mathematical Sciences at The University of Montana, having been a full professor. He is currently the Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, Professor of Mathematics, and Professor of Education at the University of Mississippi. Additionally, he is on the Steering Committee of the Park City Mathematics Institute, works with the International Seminar, the Designing and Delivering Professional Development Seminar, and is editor for its high school publications. His doctorate is in mathematics education from Georgia State University.

Great for my ECED classes!

I am an Early Childhood Education major and I need this book for all of my ECED math classes that I have to take for the program. This book is really helpful in finding different approaches of teaching math. It's also A LOT cheaper to rent this book from Amazon instead of going through my school bookstore!

This was an unusual book. It reads mostly as an autobiography of a most unusual woman. She was employed part time as a submissive. I found her descriptions of her world as a spankee quite interesting.

I especially related to her stories of trying to conceive. It was heartbreaking for her to lose her ability to have children far too young.

It was also sad about her being widowed. Unfortunately her husband did not hold up his end of their marriage financially. This left her with some very large debts. Eventually this led to her second very irregular job.

Overall the book held my interest. If she herself wasnt involved in the spanking world, it certainly came across realistically portrayed.

Strange book but overall I thought it was very interesting

To get the disclaimers out of the way, this is obviously not a book for minors. If you looked at the title and cover and thought "Little Timmy would love this," shame on you.

It recounts the life of Anna Skye, an average woman as she gets into being spanked as a second career. After a fairly peaceful life, her world is spun about by several events. Among those events, she loses the ability to have children too early in life, and her husband dies, leaving her sunk into debt.
Luckily there are people who would pay for the pleasure of spanking a nicely-shaped bum. Looking for a way to stay afloat and give her life a spark that it had been missing, she soon dips her toes into getting spanked for cash.

The writing is conversational and friendly in tone. For those expected an especially sordid novel, the author approaches it in a very light way that is a nice juxtaposition with the BDSM contents. I found it very easy to glide through the pages. For people seeking the crazy whirlwind romance of 50 Shades, this is a surprisingly "normal" book. I found it interesting, if for nothing else than I enjoy reading about others lives. Its probably not the most exciting thing to read, and it takes a while to get to the juicy tidbits. I came to feel sympathetic when bad things happened to her, but her outlook on life is admirable and she tends not to dwell on things, instead choosing to look forward.

The very personal retelling of life events by the author. Anna has 2 dreams to get married and to have children. She is very particular in choosing her spouse. 2 abortions and several relationships later she finds what she is looking for. They together make several attempts into have children at a very large expense. Her husband, however, who hasn't worked in turn brings a financial debt to her upon his death as well as the ability to use a surrogate. At her age adoption can be a risk.

Anna through a previous relationship discovers that she likes to be spanked. Now alone, desperate for a companion, in need of £20,000 she decides to try it for money. The adventures of Annas spanking life have begun as does the offer to be a "sub". All the while giving her hand to several failed attempts of online dating.

Review:
Ann has written this book as if it is her diary. This allows you to connect with her personally and feel what she feels as you relate. The book is not what is expected in the beginning. As you read you find it easy to go through and want to see what the outcome will be. The characters in the book are well written and I feel as I could meet these people and know them. In the end Anna learns acceptance for her life. You know she is a strong person. A good read, for mature readers only.

Simple Prose, Complicated Themes, Brilliant Novel

To keep things brief, this is not a novel for the average reader. This is a violent, darkly sexual, experimental novel split into a series of extremely short vignettes connected by story but more importantly by theme.
I loved this book.

Good book, awful conversion in ebook

The book is good, full of twisted scenes and strange dialogues.
What is terrible is the quality of the ebook conversion, probably made with OCR.
A lot of missing full stops, wrong words (i.e. "real" becomes "red"), and even asterisks when there shouldn't be.
You better buy the paperback version...
