Casey Peeler grew up and still lives in North Carolina with her husband and daughter. Her first passion is teaching students with special needs. Over the years, she found her way to relax was in a good book. After reading Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neal Hurston her senior year of high school and multiple Nicholas Sparks' novels, she found a hidden love and appreciation for reading. Her perfect day consists of water, sand between her toes, a cold beverage, and a great book!

Love, secrets

Love, secrets, betrayals, and transformations.
What happens when love at first site becomes complicated with real life?
The moment that Gunnison set his eyes on Marleigh he knew that there was something different about her. After a light, fun, and passionate week spent together during spring break they decide to try a long distance relationship. It turns out that life is far more complicated than either of them expected.
Marleigh's whole world gets turned upside down unexpectedly. She is young and afraid and she makes choices that her family does not agree with. Marleigh is brave and likeable but I had a hard time relating to her because a lot of her choices were selfish. I disagreed, got frustrated or completely disliked most of the choices that she made during at least 75% of the novel. With that said, I still liked her and felt that her reasons were justified in her own mind,
Gunnison was completely lovable. At the beginning of the story he is a star high school basketball player and as time goes by we get to see him grow into a star college player. He is smart, talented and commits to one girl at a time. When Marleigh completely breaks his heart without explanation he waits for years before he commits to anyone else. He tries to move on but lets girls know that he is still in love with someone else. Its hard for him to move on when he has no clue what happened between him and the only woman that he has ever loved.
Secrets never stay secrets for long.
As Gunnison gets the answers that he has been longing for Marleigh's deepest kept secrets come to light. Crashing Tides is filled with emotional angst, sweet love, and frustration. I experienced so many ups and downs throughout this novel. There were moments when my heart broke only to be mended a short while later. Casey Peeler's writing is phenomenal in this story and I hope that the sisters get there own happily ever afters.

Carolina romance at its finest.....

Spring Break…..it’s a time for letting loose, having fun, and making memories. For Gunnison ‘GC’ De Valle a trip centered around a basketball tournament will forever change his life. The moment GC spots Marleigh Anderson - he knows something is different about her.
In the days that follow, GC and Marleigh spend all of their free time together. Hoping to soak up every moment they can. As their time winds down, the couple makes plans to keep their relationship going despite living in different states. Their last night was spent savoring each nuance to memory. Capturing each moment…..reveling in the love that they felt for one another.
As GC and Marleigh return home, they both anticipate the start of their senior year in high school. Knowing that college, and their future are just a heartbeat away. Then the unexpected occurred. GC receives a devastating call from Marleigh, ending their dreams. A finalization to the Spring Break fling that they shared. GC is crushed but decides to find a way to get over Marleigh and enjoy his last year of high school before heading off to college.
Changes have taken place for Marleigh as well. Nothing could prepare her for the way her future altered in such a significant way. Now - three years have gone by. Fate has intervened. Once again their paths cross. This time GC has made up his mind….he needs answers from Marleigh. Discovering why she broke things off when they had their future mapped out is all GC can think about. Answers come in unexpected ways. The results lead these two down a path that will shape their future.

Good YA beach fun read

In just one week during spring break, Marleigh Anderson and Gunnison “GC” del Valle met and fell hard for each other. It was like fate that they planned to attend the same college after their senior year. The plan was for them to stay in touch and be together once they got to college. It was only one year. Marleigh discovered something that changes things. She doesn’t want to but she decides to puts an end to their young love affair, GC is devastated.GC has never forgotten Marleigh. But he has to move forward that doesn’t mean he has ever loved anyone after her. He’s in college and playing basketball and when he realizes that Marleigh is now at the very same college. He must find out why she ended their relationship. GC finds out what Marleigh’s secret, his life begins to change. What will happen between these two long lost loves?
This is a good book about an young couple who fall and love and make the mistakes that young people do. I want to yell at Marliegh that she is making an mistake. But teenagers think they know everything and that is what happens she doesn’t listen to her family and does what she thinks is right. I hurt for GC, his love for Marleigh is so beautiful. He never really moves on and I love when characters have those kind of feelings. Its deep and I love it.
The story is good and it would be a fun beach read. It has a twist and the characters have to deal with this twist. Its was enjoyable and I would recommend it to anyone who loves YA type books.
