The most credible theory I have read so far

I found Lifton's book both fascinating and enlightening. Never before have I found such dedicated and in-depth study of the actual documented evidence without hint of hysteria or paranoia. The trouble with films like 'JFK' based on the work of theorists life Grodin, is that, for all it's grassy-knoll witnesses and government sources, it simply is too lazy or credulous to look at the medical evidence. In one of his books, Grodin dimisses the pre-autopsy surgery theory out of hand. He would rather think that the autopsy doctors were all in on the conspiracy, so he doesn't have to explain certain discrepancies in his theory. Like the back wound. And the missing brain. Such "Dealey Plaza-based" reconstructions soon fall apart after investigation and bring ridicule on conspiracy believers. Not so Lifton's work. Every statement is backed up by substantiated and credible evidence. His clear, analytical thinking is one thing rare in many similar books which recycle old theories with their circular logic. Lifton's lifelong commitment to this subject shows through his exhaustive research.

Still One of the Best 11-22-63 Books Out There

Mr. Lifton's 15-year odyssey before Best Evidence was published in 1981 is an amazing story in itself. I read the paperback years ago and the depth of its research and analysis finally convinced me that there was much more to the public execution of JFK than the "Mafia did it" or "anti-Castro Cubans" etc. Even if one of those groups did "do it" they had to have help in Washington. The most important aspect of this case, pointing to the coverup of a conspiracy, is Fraud in the Evidence. Anyone who has bothered to read about the subject knows it certainly wasn't "a man in a building shooting a man in a car," despite what our media tries to shove down our throats every late November, this year being no exception.
Although its been 23 years since its publication, this book has held up well and is definitely in the top ten of this genre. I predict his next book will also be a blockbuster. Mr. Lifton in a recent interview stated that his next book should be released in the next few years. In the meantime check out his 117-page "Pig on a Leash" essay in Jim Fetzer's "Great Zapruder Film Hoax." (Yup, it appears the Z-Film may have been tampered with too, surprise surprise!) Mr. Lifton's piece is worth the price alone.

So ALL the Dallas doctors simply made a mistake?!?!

You're high if you think the whole JFK thing happened the way the Warren Report claimed it did. SO WHAT if exactly how it happened hasn't been substantiated down to the letter. How can you ignore dozens upon dozens of suspicious things in this case? LBJ gets the presidential limo cleaned (AND THE INTERIOR REPLACED) before it's inspected and photographed, and no one does ANYTHING??? He destroyed evidence in the murder of an American president, and NO ONE DOES ANYTHING!!! Hoover has the tree (the one between the sniper's nest and the exact location of the car when JFK was hit) cut down, and no one does anything. What, did Hoover have a lawn care business on the side? Why do the FBI agents in question (Sibert and O'Neill) need to be forensics experts, or, for that matter, medical doctors, to be able to recognize that surgery was done to JFK's head??? I don't have to be a certified auto mechanic to understand the difference between a problem with my alternator and a problem with my starter when my car doesn't start. I don't have to be an MI graduate to know the difference between someone who knows their instrument intimately and someone who only takes a casual interest in playing. (Then when re-questioned, the FBI agents said they HEARD one of the Bethesda doctors say that it appeared surgery had been done prior to the start of the 'official autopsy'. It's amazing how many people have back peddled and modified or, in some cases, outright denied, their testimony over the years.) Yes, a lot of people have turned this into a cottage industry. Yes, a lot of people have proposed some obscenely ridiculous theories. BUT IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT THE JFK MURDER WASN'T A CONSPIRACY!!! Reading this book gave me an idea about what it's like to be a crack addict. I lost sleep, skipped meals, and got angry. I thank God for David Lifton. Why would he spend 15 years of his life just to write ONE BOOK? You Warren Report people are the same as us. You'll point to practically anything, say practically anything, and dig you're heels in when cornered just to hold on to what you believe. You'll dismiss, disregard, and ignore, all the while doing the same thing you criticize us for doing. Believe what you want to believe. We may not know the exact details, but we believe there is more than enough evidence that proves something other than what the Warren Commission concluded DID OCCUR. And I think that, eventually, even if it takes hundreds of years, more of what really happened will come to light. And, even though I'll be long dead, I say, in advance, "WE WERE RIGHT!!!"

I can not relate to being Hispanic or male but Arts story is one that is a page-turner. From the very first paragraph, I was intrigued and found it hard to put the book down. I just wanted to keep turning the pages to find out what happened next. What I can relate to is being young and wanting to fit in and be accepted. Some of us make choices that take us down the wrong path but with the help of God, we find our way back to the main road. That is Arts story. I sure hope you order "The Monkey Box" and enjoy it. When I wrote my first book, East Side Dreams, I wondered what I was going to write next. I didn't know if people would enjoy reading about my family story. One day I started writing it as a love story. I really enjoyed it and kept right on going. Those who read "The Monkey Box" have let me know that they really enjoyed it. It is a very romantic story. Some can not believe for the tough guy that I am that I could write something so romantic, but I did! In "The Monkey Box" story, some of my great grandfather, Chico's thinking and feelings are what I feel inside. Also, many of my grandfather, Romulo's ways are my ways, not all though.

My grandfather, Romulo, died in 1937. Last year before I finalized "The Monkey Box", I went to Chiapas, Mexico to see my family and to confirm what I had written to be true. I have an uncle who is in his 80's. I went to see him and his wife in Chiapas. When I knocked on his door, the maid let me in because they had heard I was in town. My Uncle was sitting on his chair out on the back patio. I walked up to him and greeted, "Tio (Uncle)!" He turned and looked up at me and became a little startled, and asked, "Romulo?" He thought I was my grandfather. I answered, "No, Tio, it is I, Arturo." He replied, "Arturo! You look just like Romulo now!" They had not seen me for a few years. Then his wife stepped into the room, looked at me and said, "Romulo!" Her husband said, "No, my love, it is Arturo!" I gave a little laugh and they both looked at each other and said, "He even laughs like Romulo!" I think the genes came out in me.

I asked my uncle things about Romulo's life to see if they were the same stories that were handed down to me. He went on to tell me the same stories I was told. He said he was a young boy during that time but knew of the stories because his side of the family told them to him.

There is a letter that Romulo gave to my father dated 1937 telling my father nice things about what he had to do in his life and getting an education. At that time my grandfather was 64 years old and suffering from diabetes for a few years already. He died that year. My father was in boarding school in another town. My father was 16 years old. I have the original letter in Spanish. It is a very poetic letter. My grandfather was a doctor in that small town.

Growing up in San Jose, California, Arturo Rodriguez and his brothers and sister endured an abusive father, their parents' unhappy marriage, and their father's absence after he returned to Mexico. Rodriguez coped as best he could, but his drinking and drug use, in the wrong place at the wrong times led to his incarceration in California's prison system for young offenders. Against all odds, he put his past behind him, married and had a family, and worked hard to overcome injustices and start a successful business. After his retirement Rodriguez began writing about his life and his family. This book is sequel to East Side Dreams (Dream House, 2001, published in Spanish as Sueños del Lado Este. In this second autobiographical book, he writes about childhood pranks and misdeeds, his mother's near fatal illness, his parent's divorce, the birth of his first child, and how his parents even eventually became friends.
The writing here is unpolished but sincere in true, and the reminiscences and descriptions are vivid and true to life. Neither how he grew to understand his father and other relatives whom he loved despite their flaws. His message for young readers is clear. It is possible to survived and overcome injustices and hardships. About the Author
Kathryn Hughes was born in Altrincham, near Manchester. After completing a secretarial course, Kathryn met her husband and they married in Canada. For twenty-nine years they ran a business together, raised two children and travelled when they could to places such as India, Singapore, South Africa and New Zealand. Kathryn and her family now make their home in a village near Manchester. The Letter is Kathryn's first novel, and she is busy working on her second, The Secret.

Enjoyable, but alas too short story

The book description was tempting and even if I suspected it was short, I went for it. The book is a promising start for series. The plot is interesting and the interpretation of a shifter a bit unusual.

Zac and Brody met each other while attending school, but nothing happened except some lusting after each other, watching from afar.
Brody is afraid that something serious had happened to one of his patients and believing the cover story saying Zac is a FBI agent, he asks for help.
The killer is more cunning than they had assumed and Zac and Brody come away only thanks to an ability the perpetrator didn't even suspect existed.

I was right about the length of this story. It is short and thus a bit pricey. And the relationship develops so fast that there are mere hours between the first kiss and the proposal. But then it could be explained by being fated mates, even if it is not mentioned.
Anyway, because of the short length of the story, the characters are a bit one-dimensional.

Confession time. I watched, and enjoyed Sharknado. But I didn’t expect Citizen Kane or even Fast and the Furious. Sometimes the secret to enjoying a movie, or a book, is to go in with lowered expectations. That’s the case with Bound to Brody by Ali Atwood.

I didn’t go into this short story anticipating a perfect tale and because of that I was able to enjoy it, despite several issues.

I’ll start with the good. Zac McQuade and Brody Maitland are interesting characters who I liked immediately. Despite being a government assassin, Zac is no monster. He has a strong bond with his mother and sister, as well as his new-born niece. Brody was a little less developed but still a fascinating guy.

Zac and Brody’s friendship began in college where both men were attracted to each other, but afraid to say anything. The disappearance of a young man brings Brody and Zac together where they quickly discover the mutual admiration. The sex between the two men was smoldering. I could feel the years of repressed desire finally exploding between the two hot men.

Now for the bad, there were a few grammar errors and incorrect words—palmed instead of pawned. There was also a great deal of clunky exposition and awkward dialogue that brought me out of the story.

The paranormal aspect of the story wasn’t totally explained with one part of Brody’s abilities seeming more like a deus ex machine than a well thought out plot device. The bad guy also didn’t seem realistic at all nor did his motivation. The chapters focused on him weren’t necessary and added nothing to the story.

The author has talent, I just don’t think it’s fully realized here. However, this could be an enjoyable read for those who like sexy shifter stories, as long as you know what you’re getting into.

When Zac McQuade comes home for his niece’s baptism, his college crush Brody Maitland pays him a visit. Hoping for a social call, he is disappointed when he wants his help tracking a missing patient. As the two investigate, things heat up both for them and in the mystery. Will secrets past and present separate them permanently?

Zac McQuade spent several years in the military after school. Upon his release from the military, he is contacted by a government agency to become an elite assassin. As a cover, he informs people that he is in the foreign investigations division of the FBI. After having completed his last assignment, he heads home to attend the christening of his niece and take a much needed breather from work.

Brody Maitland is a psychiatrist at the local university. He is worried when one of his patients disappears with no explanation. Having heard that his former crush is home to visit his family, he contacts Zac in hopes that he will help to unofficially investigate the disappearance of his patient. Zac, knowing that he isn’t trained for this despite his professed credentials, agrees to help Brody out if only to spend some time with him.

As the investigation progresses, they find that the missing student might be victim of a serial killer. While tracking down information, they come to realize that they had feelings for each other while in school. As this bond grows, it serves not only to bring them together but also will be used against them. The killer uses this growing bond to put the protagonists in jeopardy. Will the secret that Brody is keeping which could save them from the killer also destroy the building romance between the two heroes?

This is the first book in the new Shifters and Lovers series by Ali Atwood. There is much that I liked about the book. First, other than the fact the series name, the fact that one of the protagonists is a shifter is not revealed until near the end of the book. To extend this point, our shifter did not grow up knowing about paranormals as he was adopted at an early age. Another difference is that this is not a story of destined mate. It starts out as a story of unrequited love that soon evolves. The author sets up further books in the series as our heroes decide to find out if there are others like him.

I also am interested to see if Zac’s occupation will play in the hunt for more shifters. This is a good start to a new series in my opinion.

The cover art by Scott Carpenter is simply gorgeous. Two well built shirtless men dominate the top two thirds of the cover. The bottom third has a cougar ready to pounce. Nicely done.
