If you want an intense dark thriller, the Wrong series is the go to books.

Wrath is the second book and final conclusion in the Wrong Series by LP Lovell and Stevie J. Cole. These two outstanding authors teamed up to write a dark erotic romantic thriller that takes the reader into dark underworld of the deep south.

Wrath cannot be read as a stand alone novel. It must be read in series order. It picks up where Wrong, book one, left off on a major cliffhanger.

The Wrong series is not for the faint of heart. This series is sexually graphic, has multiple rape scenes, extreme violence, and graphic language. If any of these are hard limits ...do not buy the books.

Wrath picks up where Wrong left off. The frightening cliffhanger was only the beginning. Joe Campbell has taken Tor. He wants to punish Jude before he kills them both. What happens in those six days is horrific and will forever change both Tor and Jude's life. They are both going to walk away broken and damaged beyond repair.

The body can physically heal but the mind and soul are quite a different issue. Both are haunted by what Joe Campbell has done to them and their family. Both want revenge. Both are furious and will never rest until Joe Campbell is dead.

Is revenge worth the cost they are going to pay? As this story unfolds it will become clear that revenge has a very high price. They have come too far to walk away. Joe won't allow them to walk away.

After everything is said and done and Wrath has been sated , they will still be paying the price. These two may never get their happily ever after.

I am no stranger to dark erotic romantic thrillers and love a good dark read. Wrath was intense and at times a bit too violent. It turned my stomach at times but it also made me admire the both Tor and Jude all the more. Their fortitude and strength was the glue that held them both together in desperate times.

Tor evolved into a different person. She was no longer innocent and pure of heart. She embraced her darkness and allowed it to make her a stronger person. The one thing that remained the same was her love for Jude.

If you want an intense dark thriller, the Wrong series is the go to books.

I NEED more Jude!!

5 brutally tortured stars ... Can I give it 6? It deserves them all!

After reading Wrong, I knew I had to have more. Wrath turned out to be so much more than I expected. I felt sick. I felt demented for even reading it. It's dark, gritty, ugly-cry, vomit inducing greatness that can only come from the masterminds of LP Lovell and Stevie J. Cole. They held nothing back. They tell a story, and they do it well. This duet of books will be hard to top. I have a hangover that will be hard to cure.
What we saw happen in Wrong is nothing, I mean NOTHING, compared to the depravity and gruesomeness we see in Wrath. It's the most sickening book I've ever read. It's not that it has more violence than Wrong, but the type of violence it was. It's so descriptive, and that's what has you gagging. They're the type of scenes that send shivers down your spine and make your stomach turn. And I LOVED every single minute of it. I winced in pain just thinking about what it would feel like to actually be put through the wringer like these characters. They made me nauseous, made me want to stop reading in fear of not knowing what would come next. I questioned my sanity, my mental stability. I took the chance reading this knowing that I would probably have nightmares about half of it. It's a chance you take knowing you're reading the best books you've read all year.
It's not all blood and gore. There is a side to Jude I never thought I'd see. Just when I think Jude is done, he surprises me with a turn of events that brought tears to my eyes. So you see, this story gave me an entire range of different emotions. LP Lovell and Stevie J. Cole are magic when they get together. They brought me Jude who is easily my #1 hero. He'll never be topped...cause we know he won't allow it.

Wickedly intense conclusion

"Revenge is a debt that not even death can pay."

Holy hell this was intense, from beginning to end there is no other word to describe it. Like Wrong there was very little down time and if anything this was more nail-biting and darker than the last.

We pick up were we dropped off in the last book. Tor was walking away and things got impeccably worse. Joe Campbell is the devil and he has the one thing that Jude wants, Tor. He is a despicable excuse of human and will stop at nothing to make Jude suffer. His evil holds no bounds and there are no lines he will not cross.

Tor became someone new during her time with Jude and her evolution continues in this book. Her soul is destroyed and her will is broken but piece by piece she is slowly put back together by the one person that she fell for.

"(he)...is the only thing holding me here, in one piece, and the second I move from his arms I'll disintegrate."

Jude is out for blood, his problems with Joe Campbell run long and deep and he will not be safe to rest until he is taken care of. Jude, the ruthless bookie, has also evolved. His focus while still the same has also changed. He has someone else to think of and he is determined to protect her with all that he is.

The conclusion of their story was not easy to get through. It was not a story with sunshine and roses; there was devastating loss, brutality, an evil so dark that I needed to look away and pure sadness. There were few slivers of hope and ending that will knock your socks off. I truly loved the depth of this story. From the darkness light was found but the journey to get there was not pretty. The detail in which the story was told was captivating and disturbing. It was definitely one of those books that will stick with me for a long time to come.

Very flip-floppy on macro nutrient composition that is "optimal" for performance or weight loss.
Everyone's different. And most research is low-quality so what can you do.
It doesn't tell you that everyone's different and do what works for you, it just says different things in different sections. Sometimes it parrots the food pyramid crap like older nutrition books, other times it says fats are great and low-carb works for a lot of people. Other times it acts like you're going drop dead from the apparent impossibility of glucose/glycogen replenishment from protein and fat stores that may or may not have been mentioned somewhere else in the book. Says low-carb is a myth perpetrated by psychopaths that has not been confirmed by research to be of any benefit, then lower in the page says low-carb may be beneficial for weight control, diabetes control, and heart disease.
Mentions Glycemic index and load. Should also include Insulin Index/Load. Should say that whole-wheat/wholemeal bread are not low GI foods (whereas true whole-grain with intact unmolested kernels do have a low insulin response) . Does not discuss glucose reponse w.r.t mixed meals.

Despite this, it is actually good in comparison to other books of the same type. So it gets 4 stars from me.

Unless this is for school don't get it.

Personally don't like it. I have to get it for class but don't enjoy the material contained in it. I have studied from countless other nutrition books and have found this book to contradict those on almost every level. To the point where this book has even considered Cornflakes "a nutrient dense breakfast".. Crock of you know what

Great book.

What can I say? This book is written by someone with a great deal of experience in this area. Rather than torturing you with excessive verbosity, Daddy Wendell gets right to business, and tells you what you need to know.

The book is mercifully thin, and has all the information you need to start making your own gear.

As with everything, with experience will come... expertise. However, what Daddy Wendell relates is very accessible, even for the attention impaired.

What you won't find is a collegiate textbook that takes a team of Yak to move from one place to another.

What you will find is the nuts and bolts of how to get from looking at leather gear and buying it at ridiculous prices, to being able to make it for yourself for a fraction of the cost.

Rather than detracting from a person's interest in leather goods, it will make you appreciate them more. I have found it most stimulating, and look forward to putting it to good use in the very near future.

Daddy Wendell is someone who has been in the scene, well, for a quite a while, and has the experience and the gift to relate what he knows to the reader: a rare gift.

Amazing, useful book!

Have you ever wondered how to make your own leather gear for a fraction of the cost of what the stores sell it for?

If so, this is the book for you. Daddy Wendell provides a humorous and insightful look into the world of leather craftsmanship. He takes would-be leather craftspeople from step 1 to completed product effortlessly, never missing a beat as he lays out patterns and plans for useful and devious designs. Would-be readers are in for another treat- Daddy Wendell is a leather historian. As he guides readers into leather making, he also shares the rich history of leather culture.

This book is not to be missed. It is worth so much more than ten dollars- it is an enjoyable read and will save you tons of money as you make your own gear for a fraction of the retail price!

Susie Linfield has been an editor for American Film, the Village Voice, and the WashingtonPost and has written for a wide range of publications including the Los AngelesTimes Book Review,the New York Times, Bookforum, the Village Voice, Aperture, Dissent, and the Nation. She is associate professor of journalism at New York University, where she directs the Cultural Reporting and Criticism program.

Photos missing from the Kindle Edition

I purchased the Kindle Edition, and was disappointed to find nearly all the photos missing. Instead there was only the text [To view this image, refer to the print version of this title.] Under this text was the caption for the original image. This is not an acceptable ebook experience. How can a book about photojournalism be missing all the photos?

I can't comment on the quality of the book itself, because I immediately returned the Kindle Edition for a refund.

Daring to look

Linfield's book is well done account of photographs which represent things that, usually, we don't want to look at. The author brings into discussion the very ethics of looking, gazing and staring, criticizing opinions that affirm that to look at the pain of others is participate in the intentions of perpetrators of politic crimes, specially against human rights. The principal targets of her critics are Susan Sontag, Roland Barthes, Alan Sekula and John Berger, as well as Benjamin and Krakauer. For Linfield, this authors are not essentially wrong, but we should place their writings in perspective and not make gospels of them. In reading this interesting book, we come to know that "to look or not to look" is not merely a question of transcendental ethics, but a political act regarding the suffering of human people. Linfield not only invites us to be daring to look at the pain of others, but also to look into it, its testimonies, its visual existence, and try to make of the gaze a means of amelioration of our chaotic world.

the evil "postmoderns"

Frances Richard's review of The Cruel Radiance in The Nation is very good, but is more generous than I am able to muster after having read the book, especially "A Little History of Photography Criticism" and related areas throughout the book where Linfield attempts to write on historical and critical topics. She is simply not up to the task. She tries to critique Susan Sontag but effectively ignores her main book on the topic, Regarding the Pain of Others, and critiques Bertolt Brecht but effectively ignores his photographic book, Kriegsfibel (translated as War Primer). She rails on these and other "haters of photography" by cherry picking quotes, ignoring wildly different historical and discursive contexts, and trying to mask the fact that she has not done her homework with "passionate argument". For a book on representation, her representations of other writers are cartoonish; if the same standard were held for photographs she would be talking about the suffering of stick figures. Her varied oppositions between thinking and feeling begs the age old question of whether people can walk and chew gum at the same time. It will probably surprise many people that John Berger is counted among the photography haters and is, moreover, "postmodern" and that clashing art world denizens like Richard Prince against atrocity photos is supposed to produce valuable insight. I find it disheartening that a reputable enterprise like University of Chicago Press would let such sloppy work through.

About the Author
Linda Hall spent the early years of her writing career as a journalist and freelance writer. She also worked in the field of adult literacy and wrote curriculum materials for adults reading at basic reading levels. In 1990 Linda decided to do something she’d always dreamed of doing, she began working on her first novel. The book she wrote, The Josiah Files was published in 1992. Since that time she’s written twenty-one more mystery and suspense novels and many short stories and essays. Most of her novels have something to do with the sea. Linda grew up in New Jersey and her love of the ocean was born there. When she was a little girl Linda remembers sitting on the shore and watching the waves and contemplating what was beyond. She could do that for hours. Linda has roots in two countries. In 1971, she married a Canadian who loves the water just as much as she does. They moved to Canada and have lived there ever since. One of the things they enjoy is sailing. In the summer they basically move aboard their 34’ sailboat, aptly named - Mystery. Both Linda’s husband Rik and Linda have achieved the rank of Senior Navigator, the highest rank possible in CPS. The U.S. sister organization is the U.S.P.S. Linda’s Senior Navigator diploma hangs proudly on her office wall. What this all means is that she knows how to use a sextant and can ‘theoretically’ find her way home by looking at the stars. Rik and Linda have two grown children, seven grandchildren and one very spoiled cat.

Not a Single Dull Moment

Having read and enjoyed the first book in this series, I eagerly awaited the release of the next book and immediately purchased a copy upon its release. This second story in the series did not disappoint. I really like, Em Ridge, the main character. Em Ridge is a boat captain who comes across as authentic and believable.

This mystery has plenty of twists and turns to delight even the most discerning mystery lover. The story begins in the Bermuda Triangle. After an abandoned sailboat is found, a mystery compounds upon another mystery, which begins to unfold about Em's uncle, a man Em adored, but apparently did not know as well as she previously thought in her younger years. When Em sets out to find out what happened to her missing uncle, she learns he and a female friend of Em's had a bit of a history neither had mentioned to her previously. What else was he hiding, a murder, stolen money?

This story is fast paced and held my attention from the first paragraph until the last sentence. I read the story in one day, basically, because I could not put it down for long.

I loved both books in this series, but The Bitter End was my favorite of the two stories. Probably because I felt like I already knew the main character from reading the first book. I am looking forward to reading more stories about this highly skilled and intelligent female boat captain, who is a survivor in the most dire circumstances.

I highly recommend The Bitter End and now eagerly look forward to the third book in this series. An excellent writing style and compelling stories make for enjoyable reads. This author has moved up to the top tier level of my favorite authors.

Quietly gripping and better than #1...

Emmeline (Em) Ridge is a female boat delivery captain. In other words, she’ll follow rich people around the oceans and deliver their sailing yachts to them because they want to get from point A to B faster. In the first book in this series, she had just lost her husband but still managed to solve a mystery. Fate gives her another blow by involving her in a new mystery related to an uncle’s disappearance. Here we go again. Ready for a fun ride? Sailing we will go.

Sequels are always suspect. First, there’s the question of whether the book can stand alone. This one does, and it does it very well. There’s enough back story to bring the reader quickly up-to-date. A few characters are the same—Em, of course, her cop friend, her old neighbors, and so forth, persons who are almost part of that Maine landscape, and the author does a good job of describing them anew without belaboring the point. A new protagonist, Em’s uncle Ferd (short for Ferdinand), is mostly absent except for back story, but he plays the important role of a potential victim. He’s also accused of murder, but maybe he’s really dead, and Em stubbornly pursues the case, even over the protests of her sage but conflicted cop friend.

Like the first book in the series, the characters here are complex, so much so that many can be considered persons of interest as Em struggles to prove her uncle’s innocence and discover whether he’s still alive. Because this is written in first person, the reader shares all her doubts and suspicions and will experience directly the clues as they are found. The author throws in enough misdirects to satisfy any reader of mysteries, though, confusing Em as well. (I was able to guess most of the story before long, but maybe I have an unfair advantage—I write mysteries too.) This book is probably better than the first, so that failure of some sequels is also avoided. In fact, it’s a first-rate mystery with great plot, characters, and settings.

The visit to the scene of the crime deep in the heart of Pennsylvania is a wee bit unusual. Em is most comfortable on a boat, while the people in the Pennsylvania town are mostly clueless about sailing. It’s almost like first contact between Terrans and ETs! (I’ve also experienced some of that in Pennsylvania, a microcosm of the U.S. with big cities Pittsburgh and Philadelphia and a lot of rural Americana in between.) Otherwise, most of the novel occurs on and around the ocean, from Bermuda to Maine. The meaning of the title is explained at the beginning of the novel—it’s a sailing term—but any lover of the sea and sailing will smile at Hall’s authentic portrayals of action on the water.

I was expecting more about the Bermuda Triangle. It really plays a minor role, although it provides a bit of strangeness at the beginning of the novel. That’s where Ferd disappears, and Em finds his empty boat with only his cat Bear on board. I also thought her temporary employer, the reality star and her reason for being there, would play more of a role, but he doesn’t. Count these things as misdirects too, I guess. The first adds eeriness; the second a bit of comedy (the reality show is about conspiracy theories).

Hall’s action scenes are good and add thrills to this mystery, which also has plenty of suspense. I would have spent more pages on the final confrontation with the killer, though. The earlier confrontation with his associate gets more attention. It seemed like the author was in a rush to finish. While many details aren’t learned until the end, reminding me of those old Agatha Christie tales where everyone gathers around and hears Miss Marple or Poirot explain what happened, the denouement doesn’t contain any cliffhangers. The next Em book will have to be a fresh story, always a good thing—I’m looking forward to it.

The Christie remembrance is fitting for another reason. Besides the importance of family, there really aren’t earth-shaking themes here. And the real lesson is that events many years in your past, even ones unknown to you, can come back and haunt you. So there’s a lot of old classical mystery flavor in this novel. It also leaves you thinking: what stories about your old relatives are true? All of the genealogical databases in the world would have trouble answering that question, so Em’s confusion about memories of her uncle not matching those of others in her circle of family and friends are probably not rare even in the real world. In this book, that only adds to the intrigue.

A Mystery Worth Reading!

Anything can happen in the Bermuda Triangle. When Em, a boat captain, accepts a job with “Papa” for twelve days, transporting him all over the area in her boat for a documentary, they come upon an abandoned sailboat with a tear in its mast and no one on board. After finding a cat on board, alone, and then realizing it’s her uncle’s boat, Em begins a desperate search for her favorite uncle. The trouble was, no one else was looking for him. The other relatives and friends thought she was crazy and even her mom didn’t really believe that he was missing. Most of them thought he was just in debt and ran away, implying to Em that she didn’t really know her Uncle Ferd. But Em wouldn’t give up. While searching, Em’s uncle is accused of murder and of stealing thousands of dollars. Along the way of looking for Uncle Ferd, Em came across two old girlfriends, a gun-toting muscle man who wouldn’t quit following and shooting at her, a few people who the police said were dead, an abused young wife, and [something I’ll keep secret].

I was literally stumped through the book until the end, and I can usually figure out a mystery puzzle fairly quickly. I loved trying to figure out the pieces of the puzzle as I read and tried to figure out the riddles. There was a lot of action too, without seeming too far-fetched. There were a few smiles and laughs too, like this one, after Em pushes a bad guys off her boat: “Can you swim?” I called to him over the wind. “No.” He came up sputtering. “Well,” I called, “good thing you’re wearing a life jacket then . . .”

I liked that there was a hint of a “wanna be” romance: “I would need to be more careful in the future about where I placed my heart.” I could tell that the author loved being on the water and that made the story all the more credible.

The author has a knack for creating characters that are likeable and characters who I can care about. I was really cheering Em on and I felt like I really got to know Uncle Ferd how Em saw him. The Bitter End was a very entertaining story.
