Maleficarum

The Darkstalkers' storyline takes a very interesting transformation and focuses on the events of Jedah revealing himself during a fight between Morrigan Aensland and Demitri. As the story progresses, some of the other fighters are introduced, including Lilith and Talbain, and how they are connected to Morrigan. This is volume one, so the story ends with a skirmish between Talbain and Morrigan. I am looking foreward to volume two in order to follow a new spin on one of my favorite game series.

Red Earth begins with the revelation of what has become of the former king Leo, cursed with the form of a lion and stripped of his honor and kingdom. His former wise men try to lift his curse so he can fight the forces that destroyed his lands and people. They succeed in returning his mind and most of his body. Leo discovers from the dying wise men what has happened and begins his journey to right the wrongs caused by a mysterious dark force.
Lady Tessa, a very prominent witch knows of the events in surrounding countries and decides to venture out and discover the truth of it all, believing the wars and confusion is being caused by one malicious superpower. She begins her journey, much to the dismay of her two animal assistants.
A young warrior, Mai-ling returns to her village only to find it destroyed. While looking for survivors, she is attacked by a harpy who she believes is responsible for the condition of her former village. After their confrontation, Mai-Ling decides to journey out to find the reason for all the suffering that is being caused all around.
A ninja, unnamed in this volume is also aware of the massive tragedies occuring in the surrounding lands and decides to discover the origins of the disturbances he senses.

This combination of fantase generas is quite intriguing. I purchased it in hopes that it would be all about the Darkstalkers games. I am quite pleased to be wrong, for I have been introduced to a very interesting mesh of magic, fighting, mystery, and fantasy. I would recomend this book and series to anyone who dreams of fighting monsters with various means, anyone who thinks, "What if my favorite fantasy game were real," and anyone who wants an interesting fantasy to follow.

It was not what I was expecting...

The shipment was fast and the product was in perfect condition. The story seemed to lean more on the story of Red Earth rather than the Darkstalkers. The artwork was splendid and accurate to the original drawings of the Darkstalkers. I really only character I recognized Tessa from Red Earth because she was in an old Playstation fighting game, "Pocket Fighter". I would possibly get the 2nd volume of this series but overall, I was not too impressed.

Excellent artwork

And decent Red Earth (Warzard) story, this book can be easily divided between the Darkstalkers and the Red Earth stories, only the Red Earth ones being a continuing narrative while the Darkstalkers act more like small single chapter vignettes. I only wish that the Red Earth storyline was longer since the final chapters move at such a quick pace as opposed to the earlier ones.

Regarding the Darkstalkers portion my main complaint is that it contradicts a previous set of stories (different author), however I guess that is just because of the ambiguity in the video game. The self contained stories are decent and filled with excellent artwork and signature attacks.

I really wish the author would have done more Darkstalkers stuff, it really beats the crap out of the Udon materials.

I Recommend the Book, But Not the Spoiler Reviews Here

I can never understand what possess people to write spoiler reviews. Even worse is when they put the spoiler in the title. Amazon should either take these reviews off or allow the author to remove them. That said, Nicci French is a very good story teller. Not a 5 star effort, but I can comfortably give it 4. Never boring, the characters were interesting and quite well developed, just not enough surprises in the plot to make it terrific. Still I recommend this book if the numbskulls who have reviewed it haven't already spoiled it for you.

In London Astrid Bell loves her life as a bike messenger and living with six roommates in a dumpy house on Maitland. She especially likes her flatmates who are best buddies to her though she knows each one of their flaws and idiosyncrasies.

Riding her bike on her way home from work, Astrid collides with the car door of a neighbor Margaret Farrell. Her pals assist a somewhat battered Astrid home. Soon after the collision, someone kills Margaret, beating her to death in what the cops believe was an out of control rage. The police question the seven mates, but each has an alibi. Soon a second homicide tied back to Astrid occurs followed by another. The police suspect a stunned Astrid who has no explanation as to why someone would kill for her over minor indiscretions.

The tale is broken into two interrelated segments with the first setting the stage mostly starring Astrid and the second how the acts were performed by the killer. Readers know early on who the serial killer is and why; yet the beauty of Nicci French's talent is that the suspense keeps intensifying until the end. Astrid is a terrific young woman whose life turns upside down from the moment she collides with the car which was unknown at that time to her or her buds. A group of young people are sharing a large house in London, each with a bedroom of his own and with a shared kitchen/living room. The house is owned by Miles and each of the tenants pays rent and does a certain amount of cleaning and tidying. There's a mixture of personalities sharing this space, both professional and non professional with one of them even working as a bicycle courier. Some tensions DO exist as there is a certain amount of bed hopping but everything proceeds smoothly until the first major incident when the courier is knocked from her bike and on the next day, the motorist who accidently knocked her over is found murdered. From that moment, serious events take place with two more murders, this time accompanied by the ritualistic slashing of the victim. It's a very good, exciting and fast read with lots of psychological twists and turns.

This is simply my opinion, but I loved the diverse mix of topics covered. For example, I’m itching to try out some of the RShiny examples in Chapters 5 & 6. Also, we’re increasingly using Git / GitHub at work; I’m hoping this book will give me some ideas on this front. I was pleasantly surprised by Mastering RStudio – I got a lot more than simply a book on using RStudio!

My 2nd Goines book..so far loving them

Pretty good book. The 1st one I read was dopefiend and I thought that book was "da bomb"..The story was depicted through actual experience. As for El Dorado Red I thought this book was great, made me almost wish there was a movie to go along with it, great suspense, realness and action. The only thing was that it could of been a little longer, but hey! still a great book...check them out

This book was very,very good to me! This is my first time reading a Donald Goines novel( that's why the review is titled first trial), and I was pleased with the results! This book kept me wondering what was going to happen next. The fistfights, were interesting and I kept reading because I kept wanting to see what was going to happen. The characters were pretty realistic and the plot was great. A son robs his own father's number's house with friends and things the story gets better after that. The ending was alright, not to bad. I also appreciated the armed robbery parts. Those were suspenseful! The book is worth buying and I'm looking for more of his works! It was close to 5 stars!

Great book for someone serious about getting into the property preservation business..this book helped me to understand what steps I need to take to get up and running...he give you actual company names and websites for insurance, supplies, and companies to sign up with for work...great book, very clear and concise...would definitely recommend for newbies to the property preservation business

Brought my son' s grade up from a D to a B

My son has always been good at math and I stopped helping him with his homework years ago. I was devistated when he came home with a D in pre-cal after the first 9 weeks. He got lazy and fell behind. Math is one of those things that is hard to recover from if you fall behind. So I cracked the whip, had him do pre-cal every night, and I bought this book, and the associated workbook, so he would have extra opportunities to practice. He read his text book, did his homework, read the related sections in this book, and did the problems from the workbook. By the end of the next 9-weeks he had a high B. Now he thinks pre-cal is easy and tells me to stop worrying. At the end of third 9-weeks he still has a high B. He should have an A by now, but I'll count my blessings. This book made a difference when we needed help.

this book is perfect for familiarizing yourself with the material

After not taking Calculus or Pre-Calc for a few years, this book is perfect for familiarizing yourself with the material. All of the "Dummies" books are good at that to be perfectly honest, so if you need help in math, try this! It explains each concept in detail before explaining each example step by step. There are quite a few types of examples for each topic as well, so a vast majority of content is covered. So far I have used this book to help me through this semester and I got a 98 on the first test, so I definitely recommend this to anyone who struggles in math. And even if you don't I still recommend this book because even moving forward into Calc I & II, math builds on itself so coming back to this in later semesters could be a huge advantage.

Great starting book

the book was delivered on time and in good condition. I never went beyond basic algebra in school as I took to accounting as a major in my undergrad back in India. I am now starting to learn calculus and spherical trigonometry for some assignment. I have to say that this book is as elementary as it can get to gain an understanding on pre calculus. I have already read thru the first few chapters and find it easy to follow.
